The folks over at SwiftStack have put together a great blog post and video describing how the Swift Ring works in OpenStack Swift.
Their blog post and video were published over two years ago, and while some minor things may have changed since then, this is the best video I have come across explaining the fundamentals of how the Swift Ring works.
Even better, the video is a quick watch at 23 minutes long. Joe Arnold and Sam Merritt get right to point and dig into the internals of the ring.
